During her work stay, Emmanuelle Quertain researched, among other things, the experimental possibilities of both the RISO and laser machines. These experiments were crucial in developing a certain reflection on transcending the painting through the use of a photocopier: the artist formulated an aesthetic proposition using dictionaries to transcend a visual or literal imagery.

In addition, Emmanuelle Quertain focused on the concept of ‘women’s questions’, after discovering the eponymous work by Jef Geys from the 1960s. She also realized a large number of images on newsprint, which form the basis for an advertising brochure. All projects developed during the residency will take the form of independent publications, including one in collaboration with the Frans Masereel Centrum.
