Curating the Woodland
In addition to being an artistic interior, the Frans Masereel Centrum is also a place where people reside and meet individuals from different backgrounds. A place to spend time together, critically question their own practice and enter into a dialogue with each other.
The unique location of the centre – the wooded surroundings of Kasterlee – regulates the experience for all who visits her. The Frans Masereel Centrum thus try to use its entire site, starting from its identity, to develop new artistic interventions. By opening herself to her rural environment, she tries to grasp time, space and awareness of her own movement.
Curating the Woodland is a long-term initiative in which contemporary artists are commissioned to realize an artistic intervention at the Frans Masereel Centrum site. A first project was activated during the summer of 2020; In the coming years, Curating the Woodland will be gradually expanded over time.
For the time being, in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19, Fabrice Samyn's intervention is only accessible by appointment.
