Open Call (for former residents)

ART Masereel

At the request of numerous alumni and visitors, the Frans Masereel Centrum is organizing its sixth edition of the Print Art Fair: ART Masereel on Sunday, March 24, 2024. While we’re diligently preparing this event behind the scenes, today, we’re launching an Open Call exclusively for our former residents. Have you compiled a new artist’s publication during or after your residency, created a new series of prints, or worked on another project involving printed matter? Would you like to showcase and sell this to an interested audience? Then, apply now for ART Masereel!

Please submit to us via email (info@fransmasereelcentrum.be) by December 19, 2023, one PDF containing a concise proposal (including visual materials) of what you would like to present, along with a brief motivation and your contact information. Don’t forget to mention the year of your residency at the Frans Masereel Centrum!

Subsequently, the selection committee will review all applications and curate a high-quality, diverse program focusing on contemporary developments and intergenerational aspects. Mid-January 2024, you will receive notification about the selection.

What can you expect from us? Every participant will receive an allocated space, ranging from a table to a (shared) press or a section of wall, where new projects, zines, or prints can be exhibited. Additionally, we provide a fixed contribution for your transportation costs, delicious catering, a VIP program, and a joyful reunion with many familiar and new faces! Setup is scheduled between 9 am and 11 am; teardown between 6 pm and 7 pm.

ART Masereel is part of the brand-new biennial arts festival, Open Masereel. You can expect culinary experiences, the presentation of four brand-new Hibernus projects, artist talks, music – and more.

For any inquiries, please contact project coordinator Frédèrique van Duppen at frederique.vanduppen@vlaanderen.be.
