iN Kasterlee

period: 01.01.2012 → 29.03.2013

In 2012 the FMC exists 40 years. We take this occasion as an opportunity to reflect upon (1) the interpretation of the graphic medium nowadays, (2) the concept of residency, (3) the way in which the FMC is locally embedded. The project iN KASTERLEE anticipates these three topics. What kind of dialogue does art have with the public space? How do you link this to an event? How do you make the relationship that the centre has with the public space visible? The possible answers to these questions all start from the graphic medium.

Every month the centre asks a local, national or international artist to work with a graphic medium, or with the public space, or with both. The idea of the public space also includes every spot that is accessible to the public, so it consists not only of what is normally understood as ‘being outside’.

The artist has to fill in the intervention personally and on the spot. The length of each intervention varies from min. one hour to max. one month. The process will be recorded and documented. This material will be available on the website of the FMC during the year.

Artists:

Lieven Segers, Peter PuypeMaarten Verweij/Steffen MaasbolwerK, Susanne Weck (ism Thomas More Kempen & Dynamo), Indianen(Andreas Depauw, Tim Knapen, Steven Holsbeek), Filip Van Dingenen, Pol Mathé/Jochem Vanden Ecker,Adrien Tirtiaux, Peter Lemmens, Tina Schott en Lotte Geeven.
