Every Fall, the Frans Masereel Centrum organizes a series of artist talks for the participants of its collective residencies and for external visitors.
All talks are free of charge; please book your ticket in advance, as seats are very limited!

Filiep Tacq is an independent graphic designer specialised in designing books, art catalogues and artist’s books. (From 1990 until end of 2000 worked under the name “Leopold en Zonen”). He worked togethis with artists such as Francis Alÿs, Ibon Aranberri, Dirk Braeckman, Marcel Broodthaers and many more.
Filiep Tacq has won several awards for his designs, such as the Plantin-Moretus Prize and the American Graphic Design Award.
Filiep Tacq recently took care of the graphic design for the publication ‘Politiek aspect van een gesloten brief’, which will soon be available in our bookshop.

“I see Marcel Broodthaers’ books not from an art historian’s viewpoint, but from that of a graphic designer who works with artists on their publications. Also from an ‘amateur’ position – highly valued by MB. I have worked over the years on publications by the artist with his wife Maria Gilissen, and discussed them with other admirers.
The work of MB, above all, interests me because in many of his publications he looks for the limits of the medium book. And it is here we can learn a lot as graphic designers, or artists. MB give us tools to question and to challenge the medium of the book within his proper limits, using book proper means such like different paper stock, binding techniques, navigation, typesetting, etc….”
