Bart Stolle / Low Fixed Media Show – 24 September 2023, 3pm
Low Fixed Media Show (LFMS) is the name of Bart Stolle’s oeuvre which has been exploring relationships between art and entertainment, figuration and abstraction, the analog and the digital for more than two decades (since 1997).
Within this body of work, several variations have already emerged, while the name remains relevant over the years.
These can range from surreal data consisting of lots of color and dynamics, to a sterile world populated by semi-abstract figures, mainly black and white.
There is always a spread between 20th century Modernism and today’s world; a world of information and overload.
LFMS is based on handcraft, patience (i.e., slow construction), but in this way meditates on digital trends (which are particularly rapid).
More and more there are cross-pollinations. As a kind of alternative TV station, LFMS consists of animation, experimental film, sound, cartoons. All this is supported by tangible work such as paintings, drawings, prints and graphics.
