Stijn Van Dorpe – FR 21.10.2022 at 10am

Stijn Van Dorpe (he/him) is a visual artist. He researches the art space as a place of equality and aims to shift the existing dynamics in relationships there. In recent years, he developed and worked mainly within (medium-)long-term projects such as Short Cut Tarwewijk (2012-2014, Rotterdam), his contribution to the artistic research project CAVEAT (Jubilee, Brussels) Curating is Writing the Future. A Portrait (2018-2019, Brussels) and his artistic research and interventions within the public art platform PILOOT, which follows the urban developments on Tondelier (2015-ongoing, Ghent). Collaborations and other approaches topublics‘, are becoming more and more central to his practice. In this context, he is currently working on a phd within the research unit Image at LUCA School of Arts where he is also a lecturer. As an organizational form for his research, he set up the para-institute for ART and precarity, a collaborative art practice with a varying group of people (2021-ongoing). With Sarah Késenne, he compiled ‘school of equals‘, a publication on art, education & social equality.
