A big birthday celebration!

On Saturday October 15th, the Frans Masereel Centrum will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a vibrant day full of artistic experience!

Various contemporary artists will be activating our professionally equipped graphic workshops, in and around the buildings you will discover workshops for children, creative interventions by Vaast Colson, a collection presentation with work by Hanne Lippard, Kim Berman, Caroline Coolen, Kris Fierens and Max Selen, numerous performances, snacks, drinks, and so on.
Kasterlee-based artists Lieven Segers, Lisse Declercq, Ben Christiani and Karl Wouters will also take you on a brand new art route through Kasterlee.

In short, a day full of experiences and surprises!

Also central to the program: the presentation of the voluminous research publication about the 50-year history of the Frans Masereel Centrum. The book titled Diepdruk, vlakdruk, hoogdruk, doordruk (Hannibal Publishers) presents for the first time an art-historical and cultural-political historiography of the Frans Masereel Centrum on the basis of extensive archival research.

Most activities can be discovered continuously from 11 am.

13h45 – 16h: jazz-performance Lieven Cambré Quintet

15u: official ceremony and reception with speeches by Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven, Jan Jambon and Walter van den Broeck, the inauguration of the memorial for trailblazer Fons Mertens and architects Lou Jansen and Rudi Schiltz

16h: book presentation Diepdruk, vlakdruk, hoogdruk, doordruk – 50 jaar Frans Masereel Centrum

16h – 19h: Discobar Tapis Plain (DJ set)

17h: second guided art walk (Masereelroute) with interventions by Lisse Declercq, Ben Christiani, Karl Wouters and Lieven Segers

  • demo’s by Emma Verhulst, Tom Liekens, Roel Goussey and Ash Kilmartin in the workshops
