For me the opportunity to live and work in Kasterlee during 6 weeks doing a residency at the Frans Masereel Centrum gave me the chance to focus on a project that I have been developing since 2010 and that the hetic life I live as an artist living in Mexico city wouldn't let me concentate 100% on it.
The facilities at the Frans Masereel Centrum are awesome and the staff is wonderful so during those 6 weeks I was able to concentrate on my project called Wear your etch. The project consists in translating my prints on paper into textiles such as silk and cotton.
My intention with this project is to be able to produce small editions of very high quality wearable prints. I started with a regular edition of 3 reduction linocuts, each one on a different type of paper. Then I used the plates to print on textiles. The results were satisfactory and I discovered new ways to print reduction on silk. Besides that, I used silkscreen, a technique I have never used before, and I got back into litho after several years without working the technique.
