"In a time when moving images are everywhere I find it valuable to work with early pre-cinematografic moving images such as shadow-play and phenakistoscopes and to incorporate these in my work.
During my stay at FMC I continued my exploration of the phenakistiscope (an invention from the flemish Joseph Plateau) and made a 12inch etching. I also printed a more then 7 meter long leporello book, with silkscreen and woodblock. This unique book ( just one copy) represents the character Zero interests from my film 'cloacinae' who is again inspired on the former world bank leader and sexual predator Dominique Strauss-Khan.
Art and finances are two man made forces and values. A pact that an artist has to live with and try to understand.
Like everybody, I made drawings before I knew about art , before I knew how to write, before I knew how to speak. That is something that should always be kept in mind. The pleasure to create a new world. I bring drawing, printed media, animation, film and wallpaper together around a central theme and put drawing in a wider perspective by initiating all kinds of projects. Such as my ongoing publication project Drawings on... (J&L-books)."
