Residencies '19 - '20

Marie Andrée Gilbert

Fabulist by nature, Marie-Andrée Gilbert is interested in narration. Her work is based on writing, drawing and storytelling that take on different forms such as silk-screening, illustrated books, literary theatres and stop-motion videos. She is especially interested by the idea of home, the relation between people and spaces and also by the things that are disappearing (North, forests, big animals, etc). In 2007, she formed an artist duo named “Les Rabroussiers” who are very active in the micro-edition milieu.  To this day, they have 24 publications distributed in the province of Québec, France, Belgium, and Finland.  Recently she formed another artist duo in performing arts “Théàtre À La Mitaine” who are active in storytelling and object theater. She showed her performances in many festivals in Quebec and also in France. Her works were shown in exhibitions in Quebec and Canada. She has received many grants in Visuals Arts and Literature. She lives in Quebec City, Canada.
