About Manor Grunewald's artistic work:
Manor Grunewald (1985) makes interesting paintings: complex and clear artefacts that join in a visual, graphical and textural dialogue with each other and with the work of other painters. Those who try to follow this conversation will remember that a painter like Sigmar Polke was needed to invent the vehicle of capitalist realism to be able to make the things he wanted and that young American painters at the beginning of the 80's had to tolerate the postmodern term 'appropriation' to be able to combine existing images in new paintings. Today, luckily, one doesn't need references to Jacques Derrida or work by predecessors to be able to make paintings that originate in an eclectic, collage-like way of looking or working.
