Karel Verhoeven

Karel Verhoeven (°1982, Ghent)

his work includes both print, digital, spatial work, video, photography and performances.

Since his graphic design, art and mediastudies in Ghent (Be) and Athlone (Irl), he started working as a designer and visual artist, often in-situ and on a co-creativ way collaborating with organisations, companies, other visual artists,designers, architects, musicians and externals.

Karel Verhoeven is mainly interested in the formal and social use of shared places. Project-wise, he adapts existing places in ap playfull, sculptural and architectural way. Next to that, he adapts existing places in a playfull, sculptural and architectural way. Next to that, he observes, analyses and reconstructs specific demarcated places like islands, buildings, cemetries, parking places, squares etc... and turns them into spatial presentations.
