My name is Julia Panadés and I was born on October 27, 1978 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, where I presently live and work. INHABITED WORD is the name of my ongoing research into poems and drawings. There is a measure of images in what I write, which makes every single word end up turned into a drawing. These two practices call for each other mutually and move my poetic repertory. Along the past few years I have pursued the relationship between text and image, text as image, image as text. I create books as a way to materialize these experiences. I work as a drawing and creativity professor at Guignard School. I´m a doctoral graduate in Literary Studies at the Literature College of UFMG. I received a Master´s degree in Visual Arts from the Fine Arts School and graduated in Fine Arts at Guignard School.
Since 2009 I've collaborated as a guest artist with the circus/dance company Cia. Suspensa, with which I also co-created the performance While Weaving (Enquanto Tecemos) in 2011. In 2012 I published the booklet CONTAGIOUS POEMY through a collaborative creation project called SIMBIO,carried out in Belo Horizonte. From June through July 2012 I was a resident artist at Frans Masereel Centrum in Kasterlee, Belgium.
