The images I create are concerned with the process of image making and of constructing meaning itself. They are formed out of a love for collage and combining fragments from disparate sources, processing them and giving them a new collective reading in an entirely unrelated context. They reference historical, contemporary and mythological elements, but stand-alone with new, independent and symbolic readings.
I think of them as sculptural arrangements on paper. Apocalyptic landscapes. Stage sets for unknown performances. They mix traces of time past, present and a predicted future and use a visual language that is pre-historic, geometric, mystical and futuristic. They suggest dream-like states that are accompanied by a streak of foreboding. Delicate mark making is countered with stark tonal contrasts. Human experience is presented through landscape and objects rather than people themselves.
