About my experience in residence at the Frans Masereel Centrum:
It was gratifying to find myself using techniques with so much history and potential. This has been my first experience in the production of graphic art from zero (ie select the proper technique, select the paper, select the colours and of course the performance of the manual method).
I have worked with 3 techniques (lithography, serigraphy and bas-relief) in some cases mixed in one piece. With each technique, the need for patience is separate and distinct, though it is crucial in all three techniques.
The results are seven pieces that speak of the possibility and the construction process in which we are as people. The designs of these pieces were defined before taking up residence. For me, time is an essential measure and I tried to use it in learning to produce screen printing processes specifically. As an artist I consider this experience super important, being able to learn and show what I learned.
The place where you will find the Frans Masereel Centrum (Kasterlee) is amazing, surrounded by nature, which stimulated my senses and gave me freedom of thought and therefore creative freedom.
