Anastasia Mikhaylova

"Usage of light as an instrument is significant for my general work, as well as the crossover between different media. Further features are interaction between disciplines and the experimental approach. Basic conceptual aim behind my artistic practice points on confrontation of relations and differences within a theme - in order to question their implicitness or contradiction.

Basic subjects of my current work are the photogram and the fusion of photography and printmaking. The target of my research in Frans Masereel Centre was to point out the artistic possibilities within the combination of photomechanical and printing processes. Therefore I elaborated methods to transform objects and X-ray images into silkscreen prints, and to variate the result in multifarious ways towards a unique piece."
