The image Exit Only finds its source in my personal life, like the rest of my works.
In the image one sees people leaving an airplane through the emergency exit. By blowing up the image, it becomes more threatning, it gets an investigating nature that zooms in on the emergency situation. With this, I try to relate to the fear of flying many people experience.
But in the image there are elements that contradict this emergency situation. The whole setting is created in the safe environment of the hangar, so it's an exercise for a worst-case scenario. This ambiguity - on one hand the danger/the fear, and on the other hand the safe environment in which the situation is set - is typical of an irrational fear (like the fear of flying). Even when one is safe, one experiences the panic and fear.
