New publications and prints
Ecstatic love, existential cookery, damn good lentil soup: it all comes - colourfully and playfully - to a boil in 'A Cookbook' by bohemian grande dame Dorothy Iannone. And, yes, the last few copies of two of her feminist-erotic prints are still available for purchase at Frans Masereel Centrum.
With representation and abstraction set as parameters, Pieter Vermeersch’s oeuvre triggers infinitesimal perceptual experiences, presenting a sense of color that is referential of the gap between appearance and disappearance; the gap in which the divisions between two and three dimensional, immaterial and tangible, time and space are blurred. The same goes for this untitled silkscreen, which FMC printed for his recent solo exhibit in Galerie Perrotin in New York.
Frans Masereel Centrum was recently expanded by a new pavillion. Brussels based painter-architect Jean Glibert took care of the artistic completion of the project. He cleaved the complex wooden roof construction of the upgraded Centrum, that static architecture, with a white arrow that dances to the beat of spectators' every movement. This art integration project for FMC ánd, of course, his artistic principles were wonderfully brought together in an untitled portfolio, a beautiful puzzle of light.
