GRAND OPENING NEW PAVILJON - 06.30.2019 2pm - 8pm
Frans Masereel Centrum, Belgium’s biggest provider of art residencies, opened a new pavilion on the 9th of February. The expansion is not only an architectural and artistic complement to the existing dome, but is also perfectly aligned with the current operation and future ambitions of the Centrum for print art and graphic design.
The new pavillion will serve to expand the existing residency program even more. And it provides numerous unique exhibition opportunities. Furthermore, the new pavilion's non-hierarchal, highly dynamic machikado structure eludes the normative division between artists and spectators, between machine-filled ateliers and exhibition spaces, between product and process. It stimulates interaction, yet at the same time guarantees a calm and intimate working environment.
The new pavilion was designed by Hideyuki Nakayama from Tokyo and Ido Avissar from Paris. And the well-known Belgian architect-painter Jean Glibert has taken care of the artistic completion.
