Curating the Woodland

Besides being a dynamic printmaking workshop and a leading exhibition space, the Frans Masereel Centrum is also a meeting point where individuals from different backgrounds spend time together, critically question their own practice and initiate dialogue with each other.

The unique location of the centre - the wooded area of Kasterlee - enhances the experience for everyone who visits. Therefore, the Frans Masereel Centrum uses the entirety of its site, starting from its own identity, to develop new artistic interventions. By opening up to her green outdoors, she tries to reflect on the time, space and awareness of her own movement.

'Curating the Woodland' is a long-term initiative that is part of the renewed artistic programme, gradually rolled out by director Stijn Maes since he took office in mid-2019. In 2020, Fabrice Samyn’s project “I am” (2020-2034) will be activated for the first time.
