Remi Tamburini

Bubble flying saucer was influenced by Kenneth Arnold’s testimony in 1947. In his rapport, the pilot mentions 9 flying objects. When the media picked up the story shortly afterwards, they described the objects as flying saucers. Since then, the term ‘flying saucer’ has been connected to UFO’s.
Bubble flying saucer was built starting from a real coffee saucer. Its form is a geometrisation and symmetrical permutation of the plate. During his residency in Frans Masereel Centrum, Tamburini will build an aerostat, a ‘flying saucer’ filled with helium that will be able to stay up in the air.
Bubble flying saucer will appear like a mirage, a travelling hallucination in the rural landscape of Kasterlee. Pulled by a car, the flying object will become a UFO-sculpture in the Belgian sky. Its appearance will then start all kinds of rumours, thus becoming a legendary apparition like the UFOs themselves.

Rémi Tamburini’s residency is a part of the residency-exchange between ZSenne and Frans Masereel Centrum.
