Michael Fliri

Michael Fliri was born in South Tyrol, Italy in 1978. He lives in Italy and Vienna, Austria. He studied art at the Accademia di Belle Arti Bologna, the Akademie der Bildenden Künste, Munich and Kunstakademiet Bergen, Norway. Michael produces video, photography and sculptures, as well as live performances. His works were shown in solo and group exhibitions around Europe, including: Fondazione Merz Turin; Museion, Bolzano; Mart, Rovereto; Reina Sofia, Madrid; Contemporary Art Center Luigi Pecci, Prato;  Biennale Moscow;  Hangar Bicocca, Milan; Maison Particulière, Bruxelles. He gave live performances at prestigious museums like the Centre Pompidou, Paris (2012), Kunsthalle Düsseldorf(2015), the Generali Foundation, Vienna (2010) and the Ferdinandeum, Innsbruck (2014).
Michael was artist in residence at the Centre des Récollets Paris in 2008 (invited by the Dena Foundation) and at the Air in Antwerp in 2011 (selected by the Needcompany). He won the Artist price awarded by the City of Vienna with the Ministry of Culture (2007) and the ZF Art Award, Friedrichshafen, Germany (2014) and Frans Masereel Centre (2015).
